International co-operation
What we do
The NCA is active in the following organizations:
European Topic Centre on Biological Diversity
European Topic Centre on Biological Diversity (ETC BD) is an international consortium of expert organisations closely cooperating with the EEA - European Environment Agency. ETC BD assists the EEA with preparation of reports on state of the environment and deals with the state and trends in biological diversity in Europe.
The European Centre for Nature Conservation
The European Centre for Nature Conservation is an independent organisation active in nature conservation, sustainability, and biodiversity conservation and landscape protection. The NCA is the only partner organisation from the Czech Republic.
International Union for Conservation of Nature
IUCN - International Union for Conservation of Nature is the most respected international nature conservation organisation. Its main mission is to support, influence, and inspire governments, government institutions, academic institutions, and national and international NGOs in the protection of integrity and diversity of nature and to ensure just and sustainable use of natural resources.
Council of Europe
The Council of Europe has coordinated the activities of EU member states in the field of biodiversity and nature conservation since 1962. It has set up a network of biogenetic reserves (in the Czech Republic it is represented by Blanice NNM and Břehyně-Pecopala NNR), and it functions as a secretariat of the Bern Convention. The Council also gives the European Diploma (award) to the best protected areas in Europe (in the Czech Republic the following protected areas have received the award: Podyjí NP, Bílé Karpaty PLA, and Karlštejn NNR).
EUROPARC Federation
EUROPARC Federation is a federation of European protected areas and nature conservation institutions. Its goal is to support its members and coordinate their efforts.
Carpathian Network of Protected Areas
The Carpathian Network of Protected Areas was created in order to implement the Carpathian Convention. Its main goal is to protect biodiversity, nature, and landscape through international and cross-border cooperation. Beskydy, White Carpathians, and Palava Protected Landscape Areas are members of CNPA representing the Czech Republic.
Elbe Parks
The NCA is one of the founders of the network of protected areas on the Elbe (Labe) River. Its main goal is to exchange information on the Elbe River and promote its natural values. České středohoří PLA, which is managed by the NCA, is situated on the Elbe River.
